Since 2019, AIG has assisted the Wirib (WAC) and Gunamu (GAC) Aboriginal Corporation’s Board to manage their business on their behalf. However, the transition of management back to WAC and GAC was always the strategy.
As such, the Board will take back operational and strategic management of the Wirib Store, Café and Tourism Park in Timber Creek at the end of the month.
We are very proud of what we have achieved together, undertaking major infrastructure and strategic advances:
- securing $3 million of infrastructure grants on park upgrades, including the development of a new licensed café;
- hosting the air force in 2022 which provided over half a million in revenue; and
- through our supply network, introducing the two-tier pricing system to enable locals to access quality produce at affordable pricing.
Now it is time for Wirib to take the next step with recently secured funding for a local General Manager. AIG feels privileged that we were part of WAC and GAC’s growth towards self-determination over the past four years and wish the board success for their future.
