Business support services
We offer a suite of business solutions that give valuable and practical advice to Aboriginal corporations and businesses on how to build a strong foundation for success.
The uniqueness of our business support is that we too are an Aboriginal corporation, and we understand the complexities and challenges of the sector we work in.
Our services:
- Governance training
- Project management
- Strategic planning, business plan development and cashflow forecasting
- Grant writing services
- CEO, COO and CFO outsourcing
- Bookkeeping
AIG assisted us in securing grant funding as well as loans so we could buy stock and open the doors of Elite 4 x 4. Within year one, we’ve turned over more than $1 million in income and we now employ four people. AIG continues to support us with bookkeeping services, and we couldn’t be happier with the support and care they provide.

Governance training
We train leaders in Aboriginal controlled businesses and organisations to run their operations effectively. Our training topics include director duties, human resource management, financial management, strategy, risk and contract management, laws and regulations, business planning, conflict resolution and reporting.
Our goal when training leaders is to one day see them lead without support. While it can take time, the end goal is always for AIG to step away leaving behind strong, well run businesses that make money for Aboriginal people to live the way they choose.
Project management
It is common when grants are secured for a project through our grant writing services, Aboriginal corporations will invite us to manage the project.
Some projects are small like the Remote Laundries Bottled Water project. Some projects are much larger like the Wirib Tourism Park Upgrades, the Bagala Bus Project and the Barunga Demountables Project.
Our team understand the challenges and risks that project management in remote NT presents. Despite this, their skill and agility see them continually delivering quality projects that meet our client’s needs.
Strategic planning and business case development
Before organisations can apply for grants and other sources of funding, they need to have a clear strategic and business plan supported by a cashflow to demonstrate the viability of their business. AIG runs personalised workshops with business leaders to develop the three to five year strategic plan including a clearly defined vision and mission. Once these are completed, the business plan for the next 12 months is developed with cash flow forecasts.
Grant applications
Our grant writing service has a reputation for preparing high-quality grant applications with a high success rate.
Applying for government grants is a complicated and lengthy process. We believe assistance with grant writing is an essential form of support for Aboriginal businesses, giving them the collateral needed to start businesses in remote NT.
For many remote businesses access to grant money is the only way they can bring their ideas to life, and are a vital step in the process towards economic development and growth in communities
Outsourcing executive positions and bookeeping
Businesses can’t thrive without sound financial support and management. Based in our Darwin office, AIG offers CEO, COO, CFO and bookkeeping roles that are ongoing, consistent and can adapt as the client grows.
