Back in March of 2025, our CEO and Independent board member at the time, Elizabeth Morgan-Brett and Lachlan McKenzie, jet-setted over to Melbourne to give a 10-Minute-Pitch for the Heart Foundation Catalyst Partnership Grant (you can read more about this here).
During that time, we met so many incredible people that were willing to help and gave us the opportunity to tell our story and intentionally listen to what we have to offer.
In that crowd were Roche Diagnostics, CSIRO and the amazing Pfizer Australia. Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from Pfizer to visit the Remote Laundries Project and see the impact for themselves.
The visit began in Gunbalanya where Nicky and Krishan joined us for a community event to showcase the first screening of the Remote Laundries documentary and learn more about the important role access to laundry facilities plays in supporting healthier communities. It was an opportunity to move beyond reports and statistics, and see firsthand how simple, practical services can make a real difference.
The team then visited our Casuarina Laundry, spending time with staff and hearing their stories. From the relationships built with community members to the pride that comes with creating a welcoming and supportive space, these conversations highlighted the impact of the project in a way numbers never could.
While data helps us measure success, it’s the people behind the project who bring it to life. Hearing directly from our staff reinforced what we know to be true: the Remote Laundries Project is about more than washing clothes. It’s about dignity, connection, opportunity and helping communities thrive.
We thank Pfizer for taking the time to visit, listen and learn alongside us as we continue working towards better health outcomes for Aboriginal communities.
